Join Niki Perry and Sam Axtell for this fascinating exploration into the autonomic nervous system and how, using yoga, breath and meditation, we can stimulate it, take control of our emotions, and reduce inflammation.

The vagus nerve ‘wanders’ from the brain stem to the abdomen, and plays an important role in the relationship between the gut, the brain, and inflammatory conditions.

  • We will look at how it affects emotions, memory and breath.
  • You will feel for yourself how it affects your nervous system
  • We’ll explore the mechanics of neuroception, discovering how the body is programmed to keep us safe and subconsciously to seek connection with others.
  • You will develop tools to stimulate the vagus nerve, to tell your body that it’s time to relax and de-stress, which leads to long-term improvements in mood, wellbeing and resilience.
  • You’ll learn how to build ‘vagal tone’, to help manage and regulate your own emotions and the emotions of those around you.

TIMETABLE

⭕️ 10.30am – Niki will begin the day with a stimulating and energising yoga practice

⭕️ 12.00 – Understanding the nervous system and mapping your own experiences

⭕️ 1pm – Lunch break

⭕️ 1.30  – Tools and techniques to build vagal tone (including breathwork and meditation)

⭕️ 3pm – END
